Forming a company and putting its tax registration in order are separate steps. Panama’s General Revenue Directorate (DGI) publishes specific requirements for registering legal entities in the Taxpayer Registry (RUC).
DGI timing rule
The DGI states that legal entities must register in the RUC within one month after registration in Panama’s Public Registry.
Basic documents
The official page lists valid identification for the legal representative and proof of Public Registry registration among the core requirements.
Online filing
The DGI states that the application is completed online through e-Tax 2.0 and is reviewed before the tax registration is authorized.
Foreign documents
The DGI also states that foreign documents must comply with apostille and Spanish-translation formalities when applicable.
Official sources
This legal update is based on information published by Panamanian government institutions. Requirements, forms, amounts and channels may change, so the current official version should be checked again before filing.
