On 15 September 2026 the Servicio Nacional de Migración (SNM) announced that foreign residents in Panama can view their migratory ID card (carné) in digital format through the Migración en Línea platform.
How to access your digital carné
According to the SNM communication, access is via migracion.gob.pa. Go to the “Migración en Línea” section, then to “Solicitudes” and select “Carné Digital”. Users without an account must create one, activate the registration through their email, and then log in to view the carné and its associated QR code.
What to do if a notice appears on your carné
The SNM also indicated that if a banner or notice appears when viewing the carné, the person should visit the Sede Principal del Servicio Nacional de Migración for an update of their biometric data; that update, according to the communication, has no cost. The institution clarified that the digital carné cannot be downloaded and that the user must log in to the platform each time they need to show the document and QR code.
Context and limitations
This measure is part of the Servicio Nacional de Migración’s digital transformation process. To date there is no independent confirmation of this information from other entities.
